WOOSTER, Ohio — Douglas Clair Klingelhoefer, 63, of Wooster, formerly of Amherst, Neb., died of Alzheimer’s disease Wednesday, March 9, 2016, in Wooster. A celebration and remembrance of his life will be later.
Doug was born to Kenneth and Constance (McMahon) Klingelhoefer on Sept. 18, 1952. He grew up on the family farm. He was the oldest of six sons and had five sisters. He graduated from Amherst High in 1970. On Jan. 16, 1971, he married Michele DeTurk, and they had three children, Dana, Dan and Craig.
He received two bachelor’s degrees from Kearney (Neb.) State College while working at Eaton Corp. He later became the quality control manager for the company. He later received a master’s degree from Grand Valley State University of Michigan, then moved and became plant manager in Belmond, Iowa.
Later on in life, he remarried and two children were born, John and Ashley from Wooster. Doug loved wrestling and became a state champion in 1970. He also loved working with wood. He went on to build his own home and restored a bed and breakfast. He had a smile that would warm a room and loved to be around people. He loved to have fun, and we will miss him.
He is survived by his children, Dana of Kearney, Joe Mosley and granddaughters Javin and Jilissa; Dan and wife Jen of Colorado, grandsons Zach and Brandon and daughter Tayber; Craig of Kearney; and from Wooster, his son, John and wife Brittany, granddaughter Braylee, his daughter Ashley and his stepson, David and wife Brandy and their children, Maven and Tannym. He also loved his siblings, Kerry Monif of Bellevue, Sally Florell and husband Arlin of Elm Creek, Kevin Klingelhoefer and wife Julia of Amherst, Susan Fuller and husband Tom of Maquoketa, Iowa, Sharon Kulhanek and husband Gary of Kearney, David Klingelhoefer and wife Ginny of Amherst, Donald Klingelhoefer of Omaha, Joseph Klingelhoefer and wife Kim of Amherst, Lisa Urwiller and husband Larry of Ravenna and Sidney Klingelhoefer and wife Anne of Amherst.

WOOSTER -- Douglas Klingelhoefer, 63, 1192 Hedgecliff Drive, Wooster, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at his home. Private memorial services will be held Saturday, March 19 at his home. Pastor Victor Rasmussen of Nebraska, will officiate. He was born Sept. 18, 1952 in Kearney, Neb. to Kenneth and Constance (McMahon) Klingelhoefer and married Jamie Rasmussen on April 6, 1985. She survives. He received two bachelor degrees from Kearney State in Nebraska, and his master's degree from Grand Valley State in Michigan. Surviving in addition to his wife are children, David and his wife, Brandy Klingelhoefer and their children, Maven and Tannym; John and his wife, Brittany Klingelhoefer and their child, Braylee; and Ashley Klingelhoefer. He was preceded in death by his parents.
