1885 --- February 9, 1919

Axel Thompson Dead In Germany After Going Through the Entire War Almost Constantly in Action at the Front, Influenza Claims Him, While With the Army of Occupation.

Mr. and Mrs. George Johnson received word Thursday of the death of their son-in-law, Axel Thompson, who died of influenza on February 9th while with the army of occupation at Heimershame, Germany. Axel is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Thompson of Goldfield. His mother at this writing lies at the point of death and does not know of her sons departure. He leaves a seven year old son, Floyd, who makes his home with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Johnson. His wife preceded him in death several years ago. Axel enlisted at Camp Mills about August 1, 1917, and was almost immediately sent overseas. He was a member of the 151st Battery C-42nd Division, known as the "ROASTER."
