David Crawford, age 76, of Belmond, Iowa, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016, following complications of a result of a stroke at Muse Norris Hospice in Mason City, Iowa. Funeral services will begin at 11:00am on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at the United Methodist Church in Belmond, 1031 1st Street SE. Pastor Donna Buckman will be officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7pm Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Andrews Funeral Home, 516 1st Street SE, Belmond, and continues one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday. Those wishing to express their sympathies through a card of memorial in David’s name may direct them to his family or to Hospice of North Iowa.

David William Crawford was born August 30, 1939, to George and Ardith (Coburn) Crawford in Hampton, Iowa. He grew up in the Dows and Belmond area and attended Belmond Community High School. David worked at many jobs and was well known for his skills as a mechanic. He farmed in the Belmond and Goodell area with his father and later on his own. He went to work at Eaton in 1982, retiring in 2002. David married Janice Bamford. To this union, four children were born; Jeffrey, Marc, Matt, and Ann. They later divorced. In 1988, he married Karen Meints and added two more sons to his family, Rodney and Darin Meints. David was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed many hunting and fishing trips with his children and grandchildren. David and Karen spent countless weekends camping in various places around Iowa and Minnesota with family and friends.

Those left to cherish his life and memory include his wife Karen Crawford, Belmond, IA; sons Jeffrey (Lona) Crawford, Belmond, IA, Marc (Carolyn) Crawford, Janesville, MN, Matthew (Brandy) Crawford, Belmond, IA; daughter, Ann Campbell, Norwalk, IA; step-sons Rodney (Lisa) Meints, Belmond, IA, and Darin (Lori) Meints, Goodell, IA; his grandchildren: Madison, Abbigail, Aliviah, Lauren, Andrew, Carson, Jackson, Jessica, Merissa, Austin, Stephanie, Taylor, and Nicholas; great grandson, Liam; his brothers George Jr. (Pat) Crawford, Milton, IA, Jon (Diane) Crawford, Belmond, IA, sister-in-law Carol Smith, Belmond, IA, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ardith; in-laws, Harold and Viola Watkins; grandson, Benjamin Meints; and brother-in-law, Alvie Smith.
