Ella Marie Brauman was born December 20, 1920, near Clarion, the daughter of George and Mahala Gatliff Babcock. She received her education in a country school near Eagle Grove, attended Eagle Grove public school and graduated from Eagle Grove High School. She was united in marriage to Kenneth W. Brauman of Eagle Grove on March 24,1942, at South Sioux City, Neb. The couple returned to Eagle Grove to make their home and have lived here since that time.

Mrs. Brauman had been in ill health for some time and died at the Bethesda General Hospital, Fort Dodge, on November 1, at the age of 51 years, 10 months, and 11 days. She is survived by her husband, three sons and one daughter and five grand-children: Kenneth Brauman, Jr., Palatka, Fla.; William Brauman, Shellsburg; Roger Brauman, Waterloo; and Mrs. Larry Umstead, Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are her mother, Mrs. George Babcock and three brothers: LeRoy Babcock of Eagle Grove; Melvin Babcock, Ankeny; Marvin Babcock, Sergeant Bluff; and five sisters: Mrs. Russell Johnson and Mildred Babcock, Eagle Grove; Mrs. Eugene Ernst, Hardy; Mrs. Norman Iehl, Eagle Grove; and Mrs. Mervin Hill, Humboldt. She was preceded in death by her father and one sister, Beverly Babcock.

Mrs. Brauman was a member of the 1st Baptist Church, president of the Mission Society, church clerk, Sunday school secretary, Fidelity secretary-treasurer, Philaetha treasurer, past president of the County Legion Auxiliary and president of the Legion Auxiliary, Post 304.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Nov. 3, at 2 p.m. in the 1st Baptist Church, Eagle Grove. Rev. Arthur W. Anderson officiated, and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
