Bernard Christensen, the son of Christian and Anna Jensen Christensen, was born on Feb. 18, 1905 at Prestbro, Denmark. At the age of 13 years, he came to the United States and settled in Iowa. On Feb. 7, 1925, he was united in marriage with Alice Jensen at Eldora, Iowa, and to this union were born two children. The family lived and farmed in Wisconsin for 13 years and then moved to Eagle Grove, where Mr. Christensen was employed at the Christensen Garage. During World War II he worked in the shipyards in Seattle, Wash. After the war the family moved back to Eagle Grove, where he was employed at the Christensen Produce and later at Christensen Garage until his poor health forced his retirement.

He died on Tuesday morning, July 5, 1983, at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge, where he had been a patient for the past six days. He attained the age of 78 years, four months and 17 days. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove.

He is survived by his wife, Alice Christensen of Eagle Grove; his daughter, Beverly, Mrs. Arne Andersen of rural Goldfield; his son, Bernard Duane of Blaine, Minn.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Holger Christensen of Eagle Grove and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Carla Halverson and two brothers, Haakon and Harold Christensen. Funeral services for Bernard (Ben) Christensen, were held on Thursday, July 7, 1983 at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Rev. Scott Hall officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home on Wednesday.
