C. Hildegarde Knutsen Olson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Knutsen was born on November 11, 1912 at Thor, Iowa, and passed away very suddenly at the Lutheran hospital, Fort Dodge, Iowa on April 16, 1951, having reached the age of 38 years, 5 months and 5 days.
Her childhood was spent on the farm near Thor with her folks. As an infant she was baptized and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended country schools near Thor, and attended high school in Thor and Eagle Grove. After graduating from high school she attended junior college at Eagle Grove and later Iowa State Teachers College at Cedar Falls, Iowa. While in school she was very prominent in public speaking, music and was president of her class. She acted in the capacity of church organist for one and a half years and was very active in other church organizations and community affairs. She taught in the rural schools in Humboldt county for about three years.
On February 20, 1938 she was united in marriage to Carl S. Olson at Thor, Iowa, and to this union four children have been born. Since their marriage they have resided on a farm near Thor.
She was preceded in death by her first daughter, Nancy Ann, who died at birth. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Carl S. and three children: Alan Clark, Cathy Ann and infant daughter, Gail Hildegarde. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Knutsen of Thor and two sisters, Mrs. Ernie Weiss and Mrs. Eugene Born, both of Humboldt. Many other relatives and a host of loving friends.
Services were held Thursday, April 19, 1951 at the Ullensvang Lutheran church, Thor, Iowa with the Rev. O. O. Brandt officiating. Interment was held on the family lot in Ullensvang cemetery, Thor, Iowa.
