Irene Williams, age 99, died February 18, 2016 at her son's home in Sikeston, Missouri. Born September 21, 1916 in Green, Iowa to the late Paul and Myrtle (McRoberts) Shook, she was a member of First United Methodist Church in Goldfield, Iowa and had been a school teacher for the Goldfield Public School System before retiring. On November 8, 1948 she married Austin Williams; he preceded her in death July 14, 1985.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas & Laveta Williams of Sikeston; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jane Bates of Blue Grass, Iowa and Susan Olson & Jim Rucinski of Minneapolis, Minnesota; one brother, Paul Shook of Japan; 8 grandchildren, Emily (George) Allen, Elizabeth Bates, Sarah (Dennis) Mazur, Brooke (Andy) Halverson, Whitney Olson, Austin (Shannon) Williams, Jordan Williams, Luke Williams; and four great grandchildren, Jackson Halverson , Ethan Halverson, Noah Halverson and Logan Mazur. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Merlin Shook and Merle Shook; one sister, Erma Smith; and one son-in-law, Dennis Bates.

Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 22, from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at 12:00 p.m. at Miner Baptist Church with the Rev. Mitch Jackson officiating. Burial will be in the Clarksville Cemetery in Clarksville, Iowa. Memorial donations may be made to Miner Baptist Church, Community Outreach, P.O. Box 254, Sikeston MO 63801.
