August 20, 1892 ---- August 21, 1957

Oronoco, MN -- Amos J. Ondler, 65, operator of a general merchandise store here, died Wednesday in St. Mary's Hospital after suffering a heart attack. He had a heart condition for the past five years. Born Aug. 20, 1892, in Dows, Iowa, he married the former Caroline Siems, Oct. 20, 1915, in Mazeppa. She died in 1953. He married the former Iris O'Haver, July 6, 1956, here and she survives.

Mr. Ondler started work at the age of 13 as a printer's devil in Dows, Iowa, advancing to linotype operator, and later worked in LaGrange, Ill., and Washington, Iowa. Later he was foreman in a Colorado Springs, Colo. print shop. He came here in 1913 to farm with his parents, and has operated his store during the past 11 years.

Survivors are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Arnold Heiss, and Mrs. Chester Hoops of Lake City; four sons, Otis of Lake City, Amos Jr. of Mazeppa, James and Fay of Oronoco; one sister, Mrs. Lottie Valentine of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two brothers, M.L. of Dows, Iowa, O.R. of Rochester, and 11 grandchildren.

The Rev. Edward Manning will conduct funeral services at 2 pm Monday in the Presbyterian Church here and burial will be in the Oronoco Cemetery. Friends may call at the Vine Funeral Home in Rochester until 3 pm Saturday and at the Ondler home here until Monday noon. There will be a prayer service for the members of the immediate family at 1:30 p.m.
