Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, October 30 at the Christian Church in Troy Mills [Iowa] for Mrs. Nona Walton, widow of Laton Walton and a former county resident. She died at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry Tuesday, October 27 after a short illness. She made her home in Perry the past 50 years. Mrs. Walton was the daughter of Curtis and Mahala Ondler Carson, born August 16, 1884, at Dows, Iowa. On April 21, 1904, she married Laton Walton and he died in May 1921. Mrs. Walton was a member of the Christian Church in Perry and the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by one son, Carl Walton, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of Troy Mills. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Carol Lee Thompson. She is also survived by five sisters, Mrs. Frank Betzer and Mrs. Clarence Beerbower, Salem, Oregon; Mrs. Clara Packard, Albany, Oregon; Mrs. Lee Dix of Coggon; Mrs. Earl Bach of near Independence, and one brother, William Carson, of Boone. Services were conducted by the Rev. Don Van Vorris. Pallbearers were Charles Winistorfer, Clarence Evers, Clarence Price, Jess Price, Emmet Shaffer and Leslie Rowe. Internment was in the Troy Mills Cemetery.
