Hanna Leist nee Hetherington was born January 26,1881 at Dakota City, Iowa to Mr. and Mrs. James P. Hetherington nee Hancock. She passed away May 19, 1947 at her home at Dakota City, Iowa at the age of 63 years. She had lived in and around Humboldt all her life, spending her childhood in Dakota City with her parents. September 15, 1900 marked the date of her marriage to Joseph (Joe) Leist also of Dakota City, Iowa. To this union thirteen children were born, six daughters and seven sons: They are Mrs. Barbara Anderson of Thor, Iowa; Mrs. H. J. (Kathrine) Flemmig and Joseph, Jr. of Humboldt; Thomas of Rockwell City, Iowa; Mrs. Andrew (Mary) Gabrielson of Stratford, Iowa; Mrs. Carl O.(Anna) Anderson of Goldfield, Iowa; Ralph and Mrs. Carl J. (Viola) Anderson of Fort Dodge, Iowa; John and George of Rowan, Iowa; and Mildred, Carl Leo, and Howard at home. Preceding her death were her parents James and Mary Ann Hetherington, three sisters, Alice, Annie and Lizzie and one brother, Tom. She leaves to mourn her death her husband, Mr. Joseph Leist, Sr.(who has been bedfast since Dec. 15, 1945), thirteen children, nineteen grand-children, one great-granddaughter and one brother, Robert of Dakota City, several nieces and nephews and many friends.
