Christine Reitzel Dies at Longhouse

Mrs. Christine Reitzel, 75, died at Longhouse Nursing Home in Spencer [Iowa] last Thursday afternoon. Funeral services were held Monday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven with the Rev. Victor Fiskerbeck officiating. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery with Lightle-Hayes Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Ann Christine Reitzel, daughter of Ole K. and Anna Toreson, was born April 16, 1888 at Thor, Iowa, in the county of Humboldt. At an early age the family moved to a farm near Graettinger, later moving to Ruthven. On Dec., 17, 1911, she married Grover Reitzel of Ruthven. They were engaged in farming until 1943 spending six years of that time in Chickasaw County. To this union three children were born, a daughter, Mrs. Floyd (Ruby) Luscombe, of Arnolds Park, and two sons James of Waterloo and Robert of Pico Rivera, California. Also surviving are four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Clara and her loving husband. She was an active member of the Lutheran Church and enjoyed helping in community affairs. Many friends will also mourn her passing.
