Eleanor Bernard, 76, Webster City, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2003 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, with Rev. Travis Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be a the Foster Funeral Home from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and at the church after 9 a.m. Thursday.

Eleanor Angie Luppes, daughter of Harme and Hilka Tapper Luppes was born Oct. 9, 1926 at Kamrar. She attended Liberty #8 rural schools and graduated from Lincoln High at Webster City in 1943. She worked at Estenson's Bakery and Webster City Credit Bureau. On June 5, 1945, she married Francis Walter Bernard at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Webster City. The couple resided at Webster City. She had been employed at Beam Manufacturing (Electrolux), Doane Farm Management, Hahne Printing, Dunn's SuperValu, McMurray Hatchery and Hamilton County Public Hospital. She was a Tupperware Consultant for over 25 years. Mr. Bernard died on Aug. 17, 1995.

Mrs. Bernard is survived by daughter, Patricia Bernard, Calamus; sons and daughters-in-law, Berkeley and Janice Bernard of Okemos, Mich., Rodney and Sally Bernard of Clear Lake, Kevin and Karen Bernard of Elkhart; grandchildren, Matthew and Daphne Bernard of Red Oak, Meribeth and Matthew Smyk of Grand Junction, Colo., Melissa Bernard of Iowa City, Nicholas Bernard of Elkhart, Ryan and Melanie Bernard of Okemos, Ryan and Sherry Reinier of Belton, Texas; Heather Reinier of Des Moines, Samantha and Mike Camp of Ankeny; great-grandchildren, Nicole Koester, Ryan Reinier Jr., Savannah Horton, Nick Sutton, Maria Camp, Kyli and Dyan Jacobsen; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and JoAnn Luppes, sister and brother-in-law, Erma and George Studley, all of Webster City; aunts, Jennie Roberts and Catherine Tapper, both of Webster City; Etta Sherman and Dorthea Tapper, both of Iowa Falls; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Melroy Luppes, and a brother in infancy.

She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Webster City Women's Club, Iowa Genealogical Society, and was secretary-treasurer of Meals on Wheels for many years. Hobbies included quilting, bowling and ceramics.
