Robert C. Stock, 88, of Sheffield, Iowa passed away Tuesday at the Sheffield Care Center in Sheffield, Iowa. He was born June 30, l927 in Dumont, Iowa to Charles and Alice (Woodley) Stock. Robert graduated for Chapin High School in l945. He married Anna Smidt on August 19, l953, at the Christian Reformed Church in Kanawha, Iowa. Robert was an active member of the Zion Reformed Church in rural Sheffield, Iowa where he was usher for 46 years.

Growing up his family operated a lunch wagon for auctions and fairs. This instilled a lifelong enjoyment of these events. Robert started trucking in 1949. He bought his first corn sheller in l960. Robert hauled livestock and grain for 60 years. In his early years he also moved many families to different farms as was common in the spring. Robert and Anna met at the Surf and continued dancing throughout their marriage. They celebrated their 25th and 50th wedding anniversaries on the dance floor. Robert enjoyed visits from his grandchildren. Visits from his great grandchildren brought a special sparkle to his eyes.

Robert is survived by, son Roger (Carol) Stock of Sheffield, daughter Lavon Tanner (Phil Oleson) of Belmond, daughter Bonnie (Rick) Schwierjohann of Rockwell, sons Jerry Stock of Sheffield and Gene Stock of Hampton. Grandchildren Neal Stock, Aaron (Lindsey) Stock, Ryan (Kylee) Stock, Cole (Tatum) Tanner, Brittany (Justin) Goemaat, Troy Meinders, Krista (Brad) Kramer, Tyler Meinders, Adam (Joslyn) Stock, Jason (Lindsey) Stock, Stephanie (Ron) Hinton and eighteen great grandchildren. Brother James Stock, Union Grove, Wis., sisters Marlys Tucker, Las Vegas, Nevada, Myrna Yakel, Hampton, IA, Sharon (Marv) Miller, Algona, IA, and brother Larry (Bonnie) Stock, Des Moines, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Anna, and granddaughter Lindsay Stock.
