January 2, 1895 --- September 20, 1961

Frank Fay Ward was born January 2, 1895 at Wesley, Iowa at the farm home of his parents Arthur and Elizabeth Falk Ward. He was the first-born of six children. He was educated in the Doane, Wesley Township grammar school located on the Ward farm. As a young man he attended University Park College at Oskaloosa, Iowa. During World War I he served in Armed Forces overseas in the machine gun batallion.

He was united in marriage to Ella Ridder by Reverend J. M. Howdeshell on September 11, 1919 at her parents home in Klemme. The young couple met in the Howdeshell home. Three children were born to this union: Chester, Elsie and a baby boy who died in infancy. The children were reared in the First Methodist Church. Frank lived a consistent Christian Life. They farmed for eight years and then moved to Klemme to make their home. Frank enjoyed the out-of-doors and many outdoor occupations. He served the town as marshal for a number of years and as sexton of the Goodell Cemetery for seven years.

He passed away suddenly at his home on September 20, 1961. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Ella, his son Chester and wife, Sonja of Crete, Illinois, his daughter, Elsie and husband, Mr. Dwight Johnston of Concord, California, two grandson; Bruce and Clarke Johnston, one granddaughter; Laura Ann Johnston, two brothers; Walter Ward of Rutland, Iowa and John Ward of Elliott, Iowa, two sisters; Ellen Reed of Elmore, Minnesota and Nellie Heggen of Webster City, Iowa, his mother - in - law, Mrs. Ida Ridder, of Leland, Iowa and many more relatives and friends.
