Harold Wilson Murphy, 81, of Purdy, died Wednesday, July 24, at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield. He was born August 6, 1920, in Galt, Iowa, the son of Samuel Christopher and Goldie Wilson Murphy. He graduated high school in Clarion, Iowa, and moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1939. He retired in 1987 from Allis-Chalmers after 30 years, and moved to Missouri. He attended the First Christian Church of Purdy, and was a Freemason. He married Anita Gonzales on October 10, 1964, in West Allis, Wisconsin, and she survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Barbara Bonsack and her husband Lloyd of Purdy; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Murphy of Cassville; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Murphy; one daughter, Beverly Murphy; one great grandson, Robert Zielinski; and one sister, Helen Williford.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow, July 27, at the First Christian Church of Purdy with Lonnie West and Rev. Tony Martin conducting. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cassville. Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. tonight in Williamson Funeral Home of Cassville. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
