Claire Edgar Ellsworth, the son of Walter and Ingrid Johnson Ellsworth, was born on March 9, 1902. He was married to Mildred Hassett on August 18, 1923 at Omaha, Neb. where he was a mechanic. In 1941, the family moved to Eagle Grove and he was employed at the Ellsworth Truck Lines for several years, later he worked at the Dahlberg Garage and then was a mechanic at Lyle's AMC-Jeep Service for several years, until he retired about 10 years ago. Mrs. Ellsworth died in February of 1956. The family attended the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove.

He died at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge on Tuesday, February 28, 1984 at the age of 81 years, 11 months and 19 days. He is survived by a daughter, Marjorie, Mrs. Edward Harnan of Eagle Grove, seven grandchildren, six greatgrandchildren, a brother, Walter Ellsworth of Des Moines and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, Bernice and Dorothy and two brothers, Scott and Francis Ellsworth.

Funeral services for Claire E. Ellsworth were held on Friday, March 2, 1984 at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Rev Scott C. Hall officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Thursday afternoon and evening.
