Eugene E. Busick, 77, of Birchwood died Dec. 13 at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake [Wisconsin]. Mr. Busick was born Jan. 12, 1924 in Goodell, Iowa, to John and Fern (Church) Busick. He moved to Mikana with his parents as a child and grew up there. Mr. Busick served with the Army in the Pacific Theater during WW II. He married Joan Blaha on Dec. 9, 1946 at Barron, and they farmed at Roberts before buying their own farm in the Town of Birchwood in 1955. They farmed there for many years until retiring and moving into the Village of Birchwood in 1990. Mr. Busick served on the Town of Birchwood board and was chairman for many years. He was a 50-year member of the Bemis Hunter American Legion Post 379 in Birchwood and the Birchwood Sportsmen Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, golfing and trips to Canada.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; three sons, John of Rice Lake and Dale and Mark, both of Birchwood; four daughters, Kathleen Rausch of Barron, Karen Lombardo and Kim Moltzan, both of Rice Lake, and Kay Paulson of Cameron; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six brothers, Charles Busick and Dennis Busick, both of Rice Lake, Richard Busick of Minong, William Busick of Lino Lakes, Minn., Chester Everson of Maplewood, Minn., and DeWayne Everson of Manitowoc; and four sisters, Donna Amerson of Chippewa Falls, Nancy Strand of Rice Lake, Virginia Sandridge of Sarona and Judith Hanson of St. Paul.
