April 29, 1923 --- January 24, 2016

Nick Perdicaris, age 92, of Munster, Indiana very peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in the early hours of January 24, 2016. Nick was born in Eagle Grove, IA, in 1923 to Elias and Anna Perdicaris. He was an Iowa state high school wrestling champion and captain of the Eagle Grove High School football team.

A member of the Greatest Generation, Nick enlisted in the United States Marine Corp after high school, and served the cause of freedom, participating in the World War II battles of Iwo Jima, Guam, and the Marianas and Volcano Islands. He was privileged to be among those who witnessed the original raising of the American flag on Iwo Jima.

As a young man, Nick chose to trust and serve God as his guide in life. A lifelong musician and lover of the fine arts, Nick creatively combined his passion for classical and sacred music with his profound Christian faith. After the war, Nick studied at the American Conservatory of Music and went on to enjoy years of singing, choral conducting, and teaching voice to students in many arenas, including the operatic stage, Chicago-land churches, and in the Musical Development Center, the music studio that he shared with his wife, Else. Nick is a former employee of the Methodist Hospital in Gary, and was a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church, Hammond, where he served as choir director and elder. Folks from the Calumet Region may remember the church's annual production of the Christmas Madrigal Dinner, of which Nick was the "master of the house." Nick loved his family, trees (especially the changing of the autumn colors), and the sure promises of God.

Nick is survived by his wife of 56 years, Else (Entenmann) Perdicaris, his son, David, his daughter, Anne; and many family members in America and in Greece. Gone before are his parents, Elias and Anna Perdicaris, brothers Louis and Bobby, and sister Lorraine.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Nick touched are invited to meet at Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road) Highland, IN on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Kuiper Funeral Home with Rev. James A. Thomson officiating. Entombment will follow at Memory Lane Memorial Park, Schererville, IN. Memorial contributions may be made in Nick's loving memory to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, 1 Billy Graham Pkwy., Charlotte, NC 28201-0001.

"Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord, forever." (Psalm 23:6).
