Marian E. Olson, 87, of Humboldt, passed away January 25, 2016 at the Humboldt Care Center North. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2016, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Humboldt with the Rev. Gene Broughton officiating. Interment will be in Trinity Cemetery near Hardy. Visitation is from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church. The Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home of Humboldt is in charge of arrangements.
Marian is survived by her nephew, Kurt (Maria) Olson of Humboldt; nieces, Julie Olson of Humboldt, Nancy Tyson of Olympia, WA, and Patty (Mark) Wilson of Chehalis, WA; Great Nieces and nephews, Craig (Lolly) Olson, Alissa (Mike) Williamson, Adam (Megan) Olson, Brianne (Jason) Haukoos, Brittany (Andy) Struecker, Kasey (Andrew) Ramacher, and Justin Wilson; and great-great nieces and nephews, Scarlett and Julia Olson, Maddi Haukooos, Anna Rose Struecker, Ryker Olson, and one more on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, M. Olaus and Lena (Hill) Olson; brothers, Harold and Orville Olson; sister, Eula (Lyn) Hansen; and nephews, Kent and Bruce Olson.
Marian Elizabeth Olson, the daughter of M. Olaus and Lena (Hill) Olson, was born September 4, 1928 on a farm near Thor, Iowa. The family moved to a farm north of Humboldt and Marian graduated from Humboldt High School. Following her education, she worked as the office manager for Jaqua Printing before going to work as a bookkeeper fro Carlson Implement. She then became a bookkeeper for Dodgen Industries until her retirement after 45 years of service.
Marian was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church where she was active in circle and taught the 4-year old Sunday School class for 43 years. She loved to participate in the banks mystery and charter bus trips and take vacations with her friends. She was proud of her extensive teddy bear collection and had a love of horses and enjoyed shopping trips. She especially enjoyed getting together with her friends and being a member of Birthday Club.
