Darlene M. Denger, 81, of Kearney, passed away March 5, 2014. Services were Tuesday, March 11 at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, Liberty. Memorials are suggested to Crossroads Community Church, Kearney, where Darlene was a member.

Darlene was born February 9, 1933 in Webster City, Iowa, the only child of Laura and William Guthrie. Darlene graduated from Dows High School in Dows, Iowa. She married Jasper “Bud” VanGerpen in 1954 and moved to Kearney in 1964. She worked for the Whipple Printing Company Kearney Courier for 34 years. Along with her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by husband, Bud, and grandson, Chase. Survivors include her husband, Earl Denger; children, Angela (John) Lundberg, Lora (Rod) Graves, Nancy (Garth) Gonseth and William (Sue) VanGerpen; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
