Mrs. Myrtle Alice (Groves) Hazelwood, 87, of Lubbock, Texas, and formerly of Maysville, [West Virginia] died Monday, July 21, at her residence. Born Oct. 4, 1915, in Goldfield, Iowa, she was the daughter of the late Homer C. Groves and Ethel (Hawthorne) Groves. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Hazelwood in 1978. Surviving are one stepdaughter, Patsy Hazelwood of Iowa; one sister, Ruby G. Sabel of Southern Pines, N.C.; one nephew, Richard S. Sabel of Southern Pines; one great-niece, Christine M. Sabel of Davenport, Iowa; and several cousins. A memorial service was on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m., at Harmony Baptist Church. Interment was at Maysville Cemetery, Maysville. Arrangements are under the direction of the Schaeffer Funeral Home, Petersburg, WV.
