October 10, 1878 ---- October 4, 1951

George Burton Cole, 72, died Thursday afternoon at his home in an apartment in the Beer building. He is survived by his wife and son and two daughters, also six stepchildren. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Kastler Funeral home in charge of Rev. Harry Stickle. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

George Burton Cole, the second child of John Burton Cole and Rebecca Jane Parker was born October 10, 1879 at Dawogac, Michigan and passed away at Eagle Grove, Iowa, October 4, 1951. He was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Fitch in 1902 and to this union were born three children, all of who are still living. Later married Suzanna Wendell in 1936.

At an early age he moved with the family to Lake City, Iowa and attended the public school system of that city and upon graduation of school began working on the railroad working with the Great Western railroad most of the time, retiring after an accident while working as a conductor out of Clarion, Iowa. He was a member of the Christian Church at Lake City, Iowa.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, two daughters and one son, Dora Eike and Grace Brainerd of South Bend, Ind. and George Franklin Cole of Calif. Six step children, Leonard Wendell, Dorothy Kennedy, Donald Wendell, Catherine Lemke, Kay Wendell, Raymond Wendell; seven grand children and five great grandchildren. Twelve step grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Laurence Brainerd, George Brainerd, Donald Wendell, Raymond Wendell, Wayne Lemke, Carl Christensen. Rev. Harry F. Stickle conducted the service and the special music was presented by Rev. and Mrs. Harry Stickle.
