Funerals Held For 6 Storm Victims
Belmond sorrowed this week for six of its citizens whose lives were taken by last Friday's tornado. Their obituaries follow.

Funeral services for John Greenlander, 79, were held Monday afternoon at the Immanuel Reformed church, conducted by Rev. Robert Vander Schaaf and with Johnston Funeral Home in charge. Burial was in the Belmond cemetery. Pallbearers were Melvin Long, Len ColIier, Russell Dougherty, George Lee, Al Men­nenga, and Earl Cronk.

Born in Germany on July 22, 1887, the deceased was the son of Harm and Harmke Greenlander. He emigrated to this country with his parents as a boy, the family settling east of Belmond. He attended the local schools and business college, Cedar Rapids. On Feb. 18, 1913, he married Henrietta Menn­enga. After early employment as a bank cashier, he was in the lumber business for many ears. He served as a city councilman and for 10 years was a Wright county supervisor. After the death of his wife in 1949, he was remarried. He and Cora Kitterman were wed at Kingsley and continued to make their home here. Mr. Greenlander was a member of the Immanuel Reformed church, was a 42nd Degree Mason and 50-year member of that lodge. He also be­longed to the Eastern Star. Surviving besides his widow are three daughters by his first marriage; Mrs. Amelia Wiegand, Storm Lake; Mrs. Irene Kausler, Sioux City; Mrs. Pauline Kephart, Des Moines. He also leaves eight grandchildren and a great grandchild. In addition to his first wife, one sister, Gertie Dippel, preceded him in death.
