Allan E. Anthony, 70, of Farmington, Iowa, passed away at 9:36 a.m. Sunday, December 6, 2015 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. Born March 31, 1945 in Farmington, Iowa the son of Everett and Myrtle (Fixsal) Anthony. On February 24, 1968 he married Paula M. Block in Eagle Grove, Iowa. They lived in Montrose for a year and a half and then moved to Farmington where he built the house his family lives in with the help of his brothers and father-in-law.

Survivors include his wife; Paula of Farmington, Iowa, two sons; Chris Anthony of Farmington, Iowa and Stacy Anthony of Farmington, Iowa, two daughters; Robin Anthony of Farmington, Iowa and Heidi (Mark) Wells of Farmington, Iowa, one sister; Virginia Gray of Farmington, Iowa, one sister-in-law; Rosie Wixom of Bonaparte, Iowa and several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, one niece, two nephews and one great nephew.

Allan graduated from Harmony High School in 1963. He was a member of New Hope Assembly of God Church in Farmington, Iowa. He worked at Burrows Paper Company in Fort Madison, Iowa for forty one years retiring in September of 2009. He also worked with his dad logging and helped his brother build houses. Allan enjoyed spending lots of time with the family dogs taking them out to parks or the forest. He also enjoyed feeding the squirrels and birds, woodworking, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeyes. When his children were young he loved taking family vacations to Missouri, Arkansas and South Dakota, especially when they were able to go through caves.

The family will meet with friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington, Iowa with Minister Jim Austin officiating. Burial will be at the Greenglade Cemetery in Farmington, Iowa. A memorial has been established in his memory. The Schmitz-Lynk Funeral Home in Farmington is assisting the family with arrangements.
