MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Services for Tom Alter, of 106 E. 6th St., will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion. Mr. Alter died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, at Muscatine General Hospital. Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home, Muscatine, is in charge of local arrangements. He was employed as a punch operator at Hart Carter and Co. He was born Dec. 18, 1915, in Redding, Pa. He married Marjorie Sadler in 1945 in Eagle Grove. He was a veteran of World War II. He served for 44 months in the South Pacific. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tom Alter Memorial Fund, in care of Sherry Manley, 2414 Fulliam Ave. Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Manley, Muscatine; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
