Peter John Friday was born in the canton of Glarus, Switzerland, on the 27th of December 1863, and emigrated to this country with his parents, his brother Henry, and a sister Barbara. In 1872 they came to Iowa from Wisconsin, and settled north of Renwick. There they bought land, broke the prairie, and established a home.

He married Agnes Mills in 1889 and to this union eleven children were born. All are living except Maggie who died in infancy. He resided for a few years in Corwith, Iowa, and moved to Chadwick, Missouri, in 1900. From there he moved to the vicinity of Borup, Minn., where he farmed for many years. In 1919 he returned to Renwick. He spent a year near Rogersville, Mo., in 1925, a short time in Nebraska and returned again to Renwick and Hardy. Mrs. Friday died in 1917 in Borup, Minn.

The deceased lived to the age of 63 years, 3 months and 15 days. He seemed quite well up to a few minutes before his passing. Death came about 8 o'clock, April 11th being caused by heart failure. He is survived by the sons, Irwin of Silver Creek, Neb., Arthur, Clarence and Theodore of Backus; Minn., and Charles of Renwick, and by the daughters, Mrs. John G. Kelling and Ada of Renwick, Mrs. L. G. Pool and Winnifred of Algona and Elsie of Preston, Minn. Also his brother Henry of Humboldt, and sister, Mrs. Barbara Luchsinger of San Jose, California.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. R. E. Cook at the Methodist Church in Renwick, last Thursday afternoon and the remains were laid to rest in Elmwood Cemetery beside his daughter Maggie.

Those present from out of town were Rev. I. G. Friday of Silver Creek, Neb., Rev. and Mrs. Theodore Friday, Arthur and Clarence Friday of Backus, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Pool and Winnifred Friday of Algona, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Friday of Humboldt, and Mrs. Peter Luchsinger of Dakota City.
