BRECKENRIDGE – Lawrence Henry “Larry” Carstens, 91, died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at a local care center. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home of Breckenridge, Texas.
Lawrence Henry Carstens was born Nov. 27, 1920, in Galt, Iowa, to John Carstens and Lena Schroeder Carstens. He graduated from Iowa State University with a master’s degree and had been employed by Wyoming Game and Fish. He was a veteran of the United States Army during World War II.
He is survived by sons, Wade Carstens and wife, Althea, of Island Park, Idaho, and Stan Carstens and wife, Shelley, of Breckenridge; companion, Darlene Monroe, of Breckenridge; sisters, Ruby Cook, of West Des Moines, Iowa, Avonne Brown, of Arroyo, and Deanie Respotnik and husband, Dick, of West Linn, Ore.; and brother, G.S. Carstens and wife, Carol, of Milwaukee, Ore. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Hazel Conger.
