The funeral service for Marie E. Feltis, 90, a longtime Stewartville area resident, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stewartville, with the Rev. Lyle Fritsch and the Rev. Steven Andrews officiating. A committal service and burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Stewartville [Minnesota].

Mrs. Feltis died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015, of natural causes at the Stewartville Care Center, where she had been a resident since September 2012.

Marie E. Strutzenberg was born July 11, 1925, in Knierim, Iowa, to Herman and Anna (Jaeger) Strutzenberg. She grew up on the family farm, attended country schools, graduating from Manson High School in 1942, and went on to attend college. She was then employed as a bookkeeper in Fort Dodge, Iowa, for six years. Marie was married on Feb. 18, 1949, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Knierim, Iowa, to Richard C. Feltis. The couple farmed in the Renwick, Iowa, area until 1956, when they moved to rural Stewartville, where they farmed and raised their family. They moved into Stewartville in 1989.

Mrs. Feltis was a homemaker and farm wife, and did the bookkeeping for the family farm business and her husband's Pioneer Seed dealership for 25 years. She also was employed at Erdman's Grocery Store and then Boyum Foods in Stewartville for a number of years. Mr. Feltis was a lifelong farmer and a longtime Pioneer Seed representative. Richard preceded Marie in death on March 26, 2008. Marie was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Stewartville. She and Richard were past members of Friendship Couples Club, and she was a past member of the Friendly Circle Club and Sew-Mor Club. Marie enjoyed visiting with friends and time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marie is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Lyndon) Lichty of Westby, Wis.; and her son, Clifton (Lori) of rural Stewartville; five grandchildren, Steven (Dori) Lichty, Stacy (Chad) Bohn, Nathan Feltis, Nicholas (Jena) Feltis and Natalie Feltis; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Nerem of Lone Rock, Iowa, and Libby Strutzenberg of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers.

A time of visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday morning. The family suggests memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church. Arrangements are with Griffin-Gray Funeral Home in Stewartville.
