Nora E. Doohen, 83, of Hawarden, died Tuesday, October 24, in a hospital in Hawarden. Services were Friday, October 27, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Hawarden, with the Rev. Edmond Adams officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery, at Garryowen, SD.

Miss Doohen was born July 21, 1906, in Garryowen. She graduated from Vermillion, (SD) High School and received a master's degree from the University of South Dakota. She taught school for more than 40 years, the last 29 years in Eagle Grove. She retired in 1973 and moved to Hawarden. Miss Doohen was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Altar Society of the church at Hawarden and Catholic Daughters of America, at Eagle Grove.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Wendell (Marian) Shouse, of Vermillion and Mildred Engle, of Hawarden; several nieces and nephews.
