January 10, 1836 ---- June 8, 1908

Margaret Caroline Elder, nee McNutt, was born in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, and died at her home in Goodell, Iowa, June 8, 1908, aged 72 years, 4 months, and 28 days. On May 21, 1858 she was married to Geo. W. Elder, and came with him to Hancock County, Iowa, In July, 1864. To them were born ten children, seven of whom are living. Her husband preceded her In death. Besides her own children, she raised four step-children. She was converted at the age of fourteen, and Joined the Methodist Church. When the United Brethren Church was organized In Goodell, she joined that Church as a charter member. She was a faithful, earnest, devoted Christian, and during her last Illness often expressed regret that she was not able to attend church services. Her home was always open to the "poor" and the "stranger," and "especially the servants of the Church." A good woman has gone. —I. E. Hartman.
