Thelma Esther Call Jacobsen passed away on Wednesday October, 14, 2015. A memorial service will be held 1:30 pm, Sunday October 25, 2015 at Westover Funeral Home.

Thelma, daughter of Telford E. and Ella (Hanson) Call was born February 28, 1921 in Viroqua, Wisconsin. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Viroqua. Thelma attended Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota for two years and graduated in 1945. She was employed by Engineers Northwest in their College Aptitude test scoring department until her marriage to Jordan Jacobsen on June 26, 1948 in Immanuel Lutheran Church. They lived in Northfield, Minnesota where Jordan graduated from St. Olaf College and then they lived in Minneapolis for three years until he graduated from Luther Seminary in St. Paul.

Upon graduation they served congregations in Arkdale (Big Flats), Wisconsin, and in Norway (Conroy), Eagle Grove (Holmes), Ottumwa (Hedrick) and Ames, Iowa. They retired in 1984 and moved to Ottumwa and then in 1996 moved to Des Moines.

Thelma is survived by her husband, Jordan; her children, Ruth Millerbernd and Cheryl (Glen) Dalton; grandchildren, Renee (Steve) Payne and Richard (Carrie) Jacobsen and great grandchildren, Alex, Christian, Hailey and Nolan. She is preceded in death by her sons, Stephen and Mark Jacobsen; her brothers, Ray and Kenneth and her parents.

Thelma's family expresses their deepest gratitude to all her friends, the Zion Lutheran Church family and Care Initiatives Hospice staff for all the kindness shown.
