Florence Saunders Heddon, the daughter of Thomas and Margaret Saunders Heddon, was born March 21, 1894 at Eagle Grove, Iowa. She graduated from the Eagle Grove High School and attended Iowa State College in Ames. For 30 years, she worked with the U.S. Treasury Department in Washington D.C. In 1951 she returned to Eagle Grove. She worked in the public library for several years before her retirement. Florence died Tuesday, November 30 at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge at the age of 82 years, 8 months and 9 days. There were no immediate survivors other than cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the E. J Chapter of the PEO and Woman's Club. Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. at the United Church of Christ, Eagle Grove. Rev. Howell Bischoff officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
