Rites Held For Mrs. Madson, 40

Funeral services for Mrs. Donald Madson, 40, daughter-in-law of Mrs. Carol Madson of Hawarden, who died Friday, July 16, at a Highland, IL., hospital following a lengthy illness, were held Monday, July 19, at Pontiac, IL., and Tuesday, July 20, at Webster City, Iowa, where Rev. Paul Heath officiated with burial at Graceland cemetery.

Mrs. Madson, wife of Dr. Donald C. Madson, who was Pontiac high school superintendent from
1962 through the last school year, resigning this spring to become assistant professor at the Edwardsville, branch of Southern Illinois university, was brought to the Highland hospital near Edwardsville, IL., from St. James hospital the early part of July to be near their new home to which they moved recently. She had been ill since last October and had been to the Mayo clinic in Rochester, Minn., in June but failed to respond to treatments for cancer.

Elsie Marilyn Kirchner, daughter of George and Minnie Kirchner, was born December 12, 1924, at Clarion, Iowa, where she was reared and attended high school, later attending college. She married Donald Madson at Storm Lake March 25, 1948. The past three years they resided at Pontiac, IL.

Survivors include the widower; one son, Donald William, at home; the mother, Mrs. Minnie Kirchner
of Clarion, and four sisters, Mrs. Tilman (Nellie) Carlson of Clarion. Mrs. Tom (Vera) Klingshei of Phoenix, Mrs. Sigurd (Margaret) Risa of Fort Dodge and Mrs. Lester (Lydia) Fall of Ames. Dr. Madson's brothers, Willard of Kansas City and Daniel Madson of Salem, Ore., attended the funeral services at Webster City, the latter traveling by plane also.
