**********

The sad news was received Monday of the death of Elza E. Middleton, so long a resident of Troy, but of Peckham, Nebraska at the time of his death. He was born in Tuscarawas County, Ohio and came to Iowa with his parents about thirty-five years ago and settled in Troy township, where he made his home until some nine years ago, when he moved to Woolstock. He was married to Miss Clarinda Lee, near Port Washington, Ohio almost twenty-one years ago. He had been in very poor health for many years, being a great sufferer from asthma. About fifteen months ago he started to Colorado to try that climate for his malady, but found the air of Nebraska so beneficial to him that he spent the winter there, his health being so much improved that he was stronger than he had been for years. Last spring he was joined by his family, but he was not enjoying very good health at the time and gradually grew worse. Several weeks ago news was received that he had had a stroke of paralysis, which had partially deprived him of the use of his limbs and affected his mind at times. He seemed to be getting a little better, but yet hopes for his recovery were vague, and news of his death was not unexpected. He was about 46 years of age. Besides a wife and eight children, he leaves an aged mother and many other relatives and friends to mourn his loss. He will be remembered by all as a kind-hearted, pleasant boy and man who always had a pleasant word for everyone he met. His family has the sympathy of a host of friends in their
great bereavement.
