Melvin “Woody” Duane Elwood, the son of Marvel and Phyllis V. (Butz) Elwood, was born August 23, 1947, in Webster City, Iowa. He was
raised and educated in Goldfield and Eagle Grove. Woody served in the United States Army from October 1966 until his Honorable Discharge in September 1968. Woody worked for Geise Construction, Lund Construction, and Hennigar Construction. He loved horses, watching westerns and John Deere tractors. Woody passed away Sunday, August 16, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City, at the age of 67 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Arlene; and nephew, Scotty Joe Mosher. Survivors include his daughter, Duann Witt; sister, Carolyn Mosher of Algona; brother, Randy Elwood of Eagle Grove; grandson, Tylor Jondal Witt; nephews, Brian Mosher, Cory Mosher, and Cody Elwood; and nieces, Kaitlyn and Kelsie Elwood. Graveside services were held on Friday, August 21, at 11 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
