July 21, 1903 --- September 30, 1979

Harold L. Smith, 76, 116 Luick Lane North, Belmond, formerly of 502 S. 8th St., Clear Lake, died Sunday Sept. 30 at a Belmond Hospital. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 1:30 p.m. at the Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Carlson, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Clear Lake, officiating. Burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery.

He was born July 21, 1903 in Pontiac, Ill., to Morris and Mary Tombleson Smith. He was an active Clear Lake resident for a number of years where he was an independent trucker. He married Helen Malone May 1, 1930 in Oskaloosa.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Helen, Belmond; six daughters, Charlotte Smith, Belmond; Mrs. Raymond (Mildred) Lowenberg, Belmond: Mrs. Robert (JoAnne) Dankbar, Clear Lake; Mrs. Dorothy Brand, Clear Lake; Mrs. Lyle (Kathleen) Helgland, Mason City; and Linda Smith, Mason City; three sons, Robert, Yukon, Okla.; Major Harvey Smith, Hampton, Va.; and Stanley, Santa Cruz, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Gilbert (Viola) Hall, Kanawha.

Pallbearers were Bob Nichols, Hank Bower, Darwin Nelson, Ed Callanan, Carl Ashland and Carl Reicherts. Honorary pallbearers were Tom Nelson, M.A. Hintzman and Robert Harrington.
