Anita Marion (Thompson) Haase

January 16, 1923 --– September 7, 2011

Anita (Thompson) Haase peacefully passed away while living in Pepin, Wis., near her daughter Ann O’Neill. Anita was the daughter of Osta and Theodore Thompson. She was born in Eagle Grove on Jan. 16, 1923, the youngest of three children. Her older brothers were Maurice (Tillie) and Donald Thompson. Her family moved to Algona in her youth and she graduated from Algona High School in 1941 where she had met her husband, Gail Haase. They married in 1942 and remained in Algona until 1956 at which time they lived in California until 1959. They spent the next 25 years in Algona and then a small time in Colorado. They returned to Algona upon retiring from the Greeley School District. Anita and Gail were able to celebrate their 50th Anniversary prior to his death in 1992.

Anita is survived by daughter Ann (Richard) O’Neill and granddaughters Sarah (Anthony) Rodriquez and Kate (Mark) Mueller: son Donald (Eileen) Haase and grandson Christopher (Shelly) and granddaughter Carrie (Casey) Boren; and daughter Sally Haase. Anita also enjoyed her 10 great-grandchildren; Katie and Peter Haase; Dakota, Hannah, Naomi and Ethan Boren; Ava and Vivian Rodriquez; and Nicholas and Claire Mueller.

A Celebration of Life memorial service for Anita will be held at First Lutheran Church in Algona on Nov. 7, 2011, at 11 a.m. followed by a reception in the church fellowship hall. She was loved by many and will be missed by all who came to know her.
