Nancy Kay Hibbing, the daughter of Lowell and Florice (Messerschmidt) Lacey was born May 22, 1939 in Corydon, Iowa. She moved with her family to Eagle Grove, Iowa, where she completed her education graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1957. On February 1, 1957, she was united in marriage to Arnold Werkmeister at the Baptist Church in Eagle Grove. The family lived in various communities until 1960 when they moved to Paullina. The couple owned and operated D&D Grocery and Dari-O Drive In for several years. Arnie preceded her in death on May 17, 1975. On August 11, 1979, she was united in marriage to Earl Hibbing at the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. After their marriage the couple made their home on a farm north of Paullina. Nancy was employed at Dr. Schultz Dental Office, sold Stanley Products and before her retirement was secretary at Zion Lutheran Church.

Earl preceded her in death on February 12, 2015 in Sioux City. For the last several months Nancy had been a resident of the Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland, Iowa. She passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at the Sutherland Care Center reaching the age of 75 years, 11 months and 13 days. She was baptized on November 21, 1971, later confirmed on February 5, 1978 and was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. She helped start the O’Brien County SOS in Primghar, was a former member of the Paullina School Board and Cub Scout Den Leader for five years. Nancy and Earl helped write the Paullina History Book. She was a member of the Kappa Theta Sorority now Mill Creek Women.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons, David and his wife, Lisa Werkmeister of Mankato, Minnesota and Dennis and Nelda Werkmeister of Paullina, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Verla Hibbing of Paullina, her cat Einstein, also other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents and two brothers, Norman and Max Lacey.

After the graveside service at the cemetery, relatives and friends are invited to join the family in the fellowship hall of the church. Arrangements are under the care of the Eldridge Family Funeral Home; Paullina, Iowa.
