Samuel Nelson, born Feb 4, 1874 at Clare, to Thor and Celia Nelson died at his home in Goldfield Sept. 3, 1957. As a child he received Christian baptism on Sept. 18, 1898. He married Julia Elizabeth Eittreim of Eagle Grove. They farmed at Clare for 17 years after which they returned to Eagle Grove until they retired to Goldfield in 1940.

He is survived by his wife Julia and by 4 children Mrs. Lillian Tyndal, Omaha, Burdette, Cedar Falls, Althea, Mrs. Arnold Nodland, Belmond and Kenneth, Rowan. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and a brother Thomas Nelson of Minot, N D. His parents, a daughter, Geraldine and two grandchildren preceded him in death, also, one sister, Mrs. Mathilda Hanson, two half-brothers, John and Daniel Peterson and a half-sister, Mrs. Mary Bista.

Funeral services were conducted by Pastor Kenneth R. Torvik at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church Friday, Sept. 6 at 2 p m with Kastler Funeral Home in charge, interment at Rose Hill cemetery.
