Marjorie W. Vorland, 89, of Hardy, Iowa died Thursday, July 30th of congestive heart failure at the Marian Home in Fort Dodge. Services for her will be held at 10:30AM, Tuesday, August 4th at Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. A visitation will be held prior to the service at 9:30AM. A lunch will follow the service.

Marjorie Egemo was born August 13th, 1925 in Cylinder, Iowa. She married Glenn Lund in 1946. While living in Badger and Eagle Grove they had five children: Guy Lund (Janice) of Gilbert, AZ; Annie Lund (Bill Roach) of West Des Moines; Gary Lund (Deb) of Eagle Grove; Marna Novotny (Brad) of Baxter, MN; and Lori McCurry (Blaine) of Goldfield. In addition to her children, Marjorie was very proud of her ten grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She took particular delight in playing with the children and grandchildren on the farm.

After the death of her husband, Glenn, Marjorie worked as a nurse. In 1974 she married Herman Vorland and they lived together on a farm near Hardy. Marjorie enjoyed her role as a mother, grandmother and farm wife. She loved gardening and cooking and was highly regarded for her pie baking and her strawberry preserves.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband Herman in 2011. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Marjorie is survived by two brothers: Arnold Egemo of Granbury, Texas and Bill Egemo of Ft. Dodge. Preceding her in death are her brothers Vernon Egemo, Howard Egemo, Lawrence Egemo, and Harlan Egemo. Also preceding her are sisters: Bea Burke, Catherine DeWinter, Grace Thompson and Arlene Spangler.
