Mrs. Ohden Dies At Iowa City

WILLIAMS, IA - Mrs. Richard E. (Wyllis) Ohden, 23, died at the University hospital in Iowa City, Saturday. She had been ill since October, and had undergone surgery Nov. 22. She returned home where she was cared for until her failing condition required hospitalization again Jan. 30. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:15 at the Richard Ohden home and at 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian church in Williams with the Rev. Donald Flint in charge. Interment will be at the Kamrar Presbyterian cemetery.

Wyllis Glee Brooks, daughter of Joe and Irene Brooks, was born March 15, 1932, at Belmond. She grew to young womanhood on the home farm in that community. She received her education in the public schools and later attended school in Clarion. She was united in marriage to Richard E. Ohden May 28, 1950. Mr. and Mrs. Ohden moved to a farm near Williams in the spring of 1951, and had made their home in that community since that time.

She is survived by her husband, three children, Barbara Jean, 3 years, Richard Kendall, 2, and Judy Glee, 3 days; also her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Brooks; the following sisters and brothers, Mrs. Jean Harty of Belmond, Mrs. Janet Alphs of Thompson, Iowa, Richard, Ellen and Ronald Brooks, her grandfather, Harry Brooks; two nieces and numerous other relatives.

Mrs. Ohden was a member of the Williams Presbyterian church. Her greatest interest and joy was in her family, where she was a devoted mother and enjoyed teaching her children of Jesus' love.
