Harold "Deke" Francis Demory, the son of John Clifford and Bernice Ann (Fisher) Demory, was born July 27, 1927, in Morse, Iowa. Deke served in the United States Army (W.W.II) from Oct. 18, 1945 until his honorable discharge on April 20, 1947. In September of 1968, Harold married Donna Rae Salmon and they raised their family in Bode. The couple divorced in September of 1983.
While making his home in Bode he worked for Farm Services Coop until his retirement in the mid 1980's and he moved to Arnold's Park and had his own painting business. In 2013 he moved to Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove. Deke was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Bode and the Bode American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Harold passed away on July 17, 2015, at Rotary Senior Living, at the age of 87 years. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Clara Ann Demory, Carl Joseph Demory, Arthur John Demory and Dorothy Irene Torgerson. Survivors include his sons, Dave Demory and wife Kim of Eagle Grove and John Demory of Algona; daughter, Julie Payne and husband Larry of Spring Hill, KS and seven grandchildren: Hannah, Jaclynn, Mollie, Livia, Adrien, Jamie and Douglas.
Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2015, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Bode with Pastor Steve Bliss officiating. Burial with military rites will be in St. Olaf Cemetery, Bode. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove in charge of arrangements.
