Roger A. Wiemann, age 78, of Belmond, passed away Monday, June 15, 2015 at his home in Belmond. Memorial services for Roger A. Wiemann will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday July 18, 2015 at the Bethany Reformed Church in Belmond. Pastor Phil Arnold will officiate. Burial will take place in the Belmond Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 11:00 A.M. until service-time at the church Saturday July 18, 2015. Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane South in Belmond is in charge of arrangements.
Roger Allan, the son of John and Bena Olsen Wiemann was born February 24, 1937 on the family farm near Alexander in Franklin County, Iowa. Roger grew up in the Alexander area where he attended country school. He began a lifetime of working at a very young age. Roger helped his father farm near Alexander and soon began working for W.P. Aldinger at the grocery store in Alexander. Roger is remembered by many for the egg route he traveled over the years for Aldingers.
Roger was united in marriage to Judith Keeling on May 5, 1963 in Clarion, Iowa. The couple made their home on the farm near Alexander and later moved into Belmond. Roger and Judy were blessed with three children, Leon, Leann and Lenny. After leaving Aldinger’s Grocery, Roger worked for Hampton Auto Parts in Hampton and in 1984 for was hired to manage the NAPA Auto Parts Store in Belmond by owner, Tom Hoveland. Roger worked there until his retirement. Roger is remembered as a “Great Father”, he passed along his great knowledge, experience and integrity to his entire family. Roger greatly enjoyed camping, working on cars and racing stock-cars. He was a member of Alexander Fire Department. Roger was a devoted member of the Bethany Reformed Church in Belmond.
Roger is survived by his wife, Judith, children, Leon and Jean of Ft. Atkinson, Leann Wiemann Carolan and Mark of West Des Moines, Lenny and Cari of Fort Dodge, five grandchildren, Eric Durgan and Jurnee’ Pina of Emmons, MN, Nate Wilcher of Pittsburg, CA, Dakota Wilcher of Hampton, Travis-Jesse of Floyd, Brynn-Jon and Katelyn Speakar of Charles City, two great grandchildren, Ezryn Durgan, Jaxxon Wiemann, and numerous other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Lester and one sister, Helen and a sister-in-law, Maria.
