Duane Lee Adams, the son of James D. and Viola F. (Jones) Adams, was born June 30, 1946, in Algona, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Eagle Grove. Duane served in the United States Navy during Vietnam War, honorably discharged on March 23, 1966. On August 24, 1968, Duane was united in marriage with Betty Ann Torgerson in Eagle Grove, where they lived and raised their daughter, Sherlene. She preceded him in death on June 20, 2001. Duane married Carolyn White on September 20, 2003 and she preceded him in death on April 24, 2014. Duane worked in housekeeping for the Clarion Nursing Home and Iowa Specialty Hospital, retiring in 2011. He was a fan of Elvis Presley, John Wayne and the Vikings and was a great dancer and talented at drawing.

Duane passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion, at the age of 68 years. He was also preceded in death by his parents and nephews, Martin Noel Miller in 1973 and Timothy Lee Miller in 2008. Survivors include his daughter, Sherlene Washington (Russell) of Eagle Grove; four grandchildren, James Washington (Kelsey) of Humboldt, Alexandria Mercurio (Josh) of Cedar Falls, Tyler Washington of Eagle Grove and Jonathon Washington (Beth) of Eagle Grove; three great-grandchildren, Kynlee, Alyssa and Barry; siblings, Marie Reed (Gordon) of Springbrook, Judy Asche (Robert) of Eagle Grove, Thomas Adams (Barb) of Sioux Rapids and Stephen Adams (Vicky) of Goldfield and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at The Lighthouse Church of the Nazarene in Clarion with Pastor Dana Wendel officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
