Anna Gibbs Services Held
Services for Anna Gibbs, 93, of Klemme, who died at Concord Manor Nursing Home in Garner, were held 1:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8th, at the United Methodist Church in Klemme with Rev. Don E. Griffen as officiant. Mrs. Robert Schulz, organist accompanied Mrs. Russell Thorson as she sang "In the Garden" and "Abide With Me". Ushers were Everett Guth and Wayne Whitney. Burial was in Ell Township Cemetery. Casket bearers were: Jotham Gibbs, Jerry Myers, Mercer Bruggeman, Calvin Bruggeman, Orville Bridges and Martin Bridges.
Anna Gibbs, the daughter of Asa and Isabelle (Collins) Gibbs, was born Oct. 8, 1885, on the home farm 2 1/2 miles southeast of Klemme. She was baptized Aug. 16, 1896, in the English Methodist Church and later joined the English Methodist Church in 1903. She was in the first graduating class of Klemme in 1902. She taught part time at the Klemme Schools, and took care of her parents and a cousin for many years. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. A year ago last August, she became ill and moved to Concord Manor in Garner. She had lived 92 years in Klemme. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Klemme.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Asa Gibbs of Garner, Ron Gibbs of Garner, Mrs. Virgil (Harriet) Bridgeford of Mason City, Isabelle Gibbs of Salem, Oregon, Chas. Gibbs of Mason City, Frank Gibbs of Honolulu, Hawaii and Mrs. James (Winifred) Figenshaw of Biglake, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents; a twin sister, Alice in infancy and a sister, Mrs. Fred (Clarice) Arnold, four brothers: Arthur, Asa, Charles and Harry; and three nephews, Fred and Asa Arnold and Don Gibbs.
