MARSHALL, MN - Mass of Christian Burial for Kenneth Hanson, 80, of Marshall, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday with a CCW Rosary at 4 p.m. and a Parish Prayer Service at 6 p.m. at Rehkamp - Horvath Funeral Home in Marshall. Visitation will continue from 8:30-10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall. Ken died on Friday, April 24, 2015, at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall.

Kenneth Gene Hanson was born on July 22, 1934, in rural Humboldt, Iowa, to Amos and Alice (Soppeland) Hanson. He grew up in Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School. On Jan. 23, 1954, he was united in marriage to Mary Landolt at St. John's Catholic Church in Gilmore City, Iowa. Ken spent his career working in the grocery industry. The family lived in Clarion, Iowa, Dakota City, Iowa, and Fairmont, Minnesota, for 10 years before moving to Marshall in 1972. Here, Ken worked for Almich's Super Value, later County Market and County Fair. Ken enjoyed the outdoors including camping, boating, trap shooting, fishing and especially trapping. He was a member of the Minnesota Trappers Association. He also enjoyed gardening and taking care of his lawn. He was most passionate about his family.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, of Marshall; children Steve (and Lori) Hanson of Spring Green, Wisconsin, Mike (and Jill) Hanson of St. Peter, Kevin (and Linda) Hanson of Madison, Wisconsin, Kim (and Brent) Fenske of Kasson, Joan (and Duane) Lage of West Fargo, North Dakota, Jim (and Debbie) Hanson of Richland, Washington, and Larry (and Sandy) Hanson of Marshall; 26 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister Muriel Strieter of Walnut Creek, California, and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Robert, Philip, Edgar and Roger.
