GAINESVILLE, Mo. -- Joellen Bramsen was born in Boone, Iowa, to Virgil Clabaugh and Alberta Petrie Clabaugh. She lived in Klemme, Iowa, until her high school graduation. Joellen worked in Mason City, Iowa, as a finance officer with Home Federal Savings and Loan for 22 years. She and her husband Duane Bramsen retired to Gainesville, Missouri. For seven years they owned and operated a convenience store. Joellen was a volunteer with VFW and AARP.

She is predeceased in death by her parents; husband Duane Bramsen; and son Danny Groves. She is survived by her children, Dr. Patricia Newman, Omaha, Nebraska, and Perry and Kelly Groves, Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren Robert and Emily Newman; Ashley, Jennifer and Michael Groves; Danny Jr. and Jason Groves; "honorary daughter" Robin Spindler, Omaha, Nebraska. By her siblings: Karen (Ronald) Knudtson, Mason City, Iowa; Sherry Myers, Mesa, Arizona; Bill (Roxanna) Clabaugh, Moor Park, California; Gary Clabaugh, Klemme, Iowa; Roma (Mike) Schaefer, Ankeny, Iowa. Also by her stepchildren: Bill Bramsen, Manly, Iowa; Linda Ellman, Mason City, Iowa; Butch (Vicki) Bramsen, Mason City, Iowa and many great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Joellen and Duane were part of the original Volunteer Fire Department, Timber Knob. A memorial lunch will take place at the Fire House, noon, Sunday, March 22. Graveside memorial services will be held at Pleasant View Cemetery in Thornton, Iowa, May 2, at 3 p.m. Memorials to the Parkinson Foundation or Timber Knob VFD. A luncheon in memory of Joellen Bramsen, 76, of Pontiac, was served March 22, 2015, at the Timber Knob Volunteer Fire Department fire house. Graveside memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Thornton, Iowa. Mrs. Bramsen died March 12 at her residence.

Mrs. Bramsen was born May 6, 1938, in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of Virgil and Alberta Petrie Clabaugh. She lived in Klemme, Iowa, until her high school graduation. She worked in Mason City, Iowa, as a finance officer with Home Federal Savings and Loan for 22 years. In retirement, she and her husband, Duane Bramsen, moved to Gainesville, where they owned and operated a convenience store for seven years. They also were part of the original organization of the Timber Knob VFD. Mrs. Bramsen also volunteered with the VFW and AARP.

She is survived by her children, Dr. Patricia Newman of Omaha, Nebraska, and Perry and Kelly Groves of Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren Robert and Emily Newman, Ashley, Jennifer and Michael Groves, Danny Jr. and Jason Groves; “honorary daughter” Robin Spindler of Omaha, Nebraska; siblings Karen Knudtson and husband Ronald of Mason City, Iowa, Sherry Myers of Mesa, Arizona, Bill Clabaugh and wife Roxanna of Moor Park, California, Gary Clabaugh of Klemme, Iowa, and Roma Schaefer and husband Mike of Ankeny, Iowa; stepchildren Bill Bramsen of Manly, Iowa, Linda Ellman, and Butch Bramsen and wife Vicki, all of Mason City; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Duane Bramsen; and her son, Danny Groves.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Foundation or to Timber Knob VFD. Arrangements by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services, Mountain Home, Arkansas.
