Ogden Jerome Johnson was born on August 23,1918, at Gorham, North Dakota, to Ole and Hannah Peterson Johnson. At a young age, he moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa, and attended school, graduating with the class of 1937. He served his country in the Army from May 26, 1944, until May 29, 1946. On March 29, 1945, he was united in marriage to Esther Bohy at the Evangelical Lutheran Church parsonage in Eagle Grove. He worked at the Chapman Gas Station and then managed the Skelly Service Station in Eagle Grove. He then began working at Design Home in Humboldt, Iowa, before retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Odd Fellows, Scout Master, and received the Order of the Arrow award, the Eagle Grove Volunteer Fire Department, and the American Legion.

Ogden J. Johnson died Tuesday, January 23,2001, at his home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife, Esther, Eagle Grove; two daughters, Sandy Johnson, and Bill Brook, Eagle Grove; and Sharon Johnson, Eagle Grove; one son, George Cleveland, and wife, Sharon, Des Moines, Iowa; one sister, Jamie Mathiason, Rowan, Iowa; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dennis Johnson; a sister, Gladys Cleveland; and one brother, Herbert Johnson.

Funeral services were held Friday, January 26, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with the Reverends Paul and Susan Stone officiating. Burial was held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
