MRS. H. T. BARBER DEEPLY MOURNED

A devoted mother, sacrificing everything for her children and happiest when she was doing something for them, was summoned from life's activities when Mrs. H. T. Barber passed away last Monday after an illness of several weeks. She will be greatly missed by those who had come to know and love her in the home, where, even though an invalid, she was the center of the family life.

Funeral services were conducted from the home here Wednesday by Rev. W. J. Todd. The pall bearers, all friends of her son, Dayton, were Kepford Ricker, Foster Rinefort, Stanley Preston, Clifton Schultz, Garland Lamb and Robert Talbott. Interment was made Wednesday afternoon at Manchester, Mrs. Barber's girlhood home.

Floy May, daughter of Camilla and Cornelius Scott, was born January 24, 1878, at Manchester, Iowa. She attended the Manchester schools, graduating from the high school in 1896. On August 5, 1897, she was married to Harry T. Barber. To them were born four children, Mabel, now Mrs. Roger Alley of Ames; Marjorie, now Mrs. Harold Tillotson of Des Moines; Ruth and Dayton of Grinnell. They lived for several years in Manchester, then in Waverly and Clarion, coming to Grinnell in 1914, where they have since made their home.

Mrs. Barber was an invalid for the past nine years, spending her life in a wheel chair, cheerfully caring for her family and home in spite of her affliction. Being unable to take part in the activities of the outside world, she made a host of dear friends who loved to gather in her home. Following a serious illness of several weeks, she passed away Sept. 14, at the Community Hospital in Grinnell.

Besides her husband and four children, she leaves to mourn her loss, her mother, Mrs. Cornelius Scott of Manchester and two sisters, Mrs. W.C. Blake of Manchester and Mrs. E.H. Hollister of Williams Bay, Wis.
