February 17, 1878 --- January 1, 1960

Ford Van Wie, the youngest son of John and Ella Van Wie, was born in Norris, Wis., Feb. 17, 1878. He died Jan. 1, 1960 at Clarion Memorial Hospital following a long illness. On June 13, 1913 he was united in marriage with Mildred Clements at Mankato, Minn. To this union were born two daughters, Georgia Cannon of San Antonio, Texas and Virginia Fox of Spokane, Wash. Mr. Van Wie came to Eagle Grove in 1915 and has resided here since then, except for a few years at Sioux Rapids. He was employed through these years by the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. Mr. Van Wie was converted to the Christian faith in 1925 and his religion was a great source of strength and comfort to him through his illness. He attended the Methodist church regularly and he studied his Bible faithfully. He believed in tithing and was generous in giving to the less fortunate.

Mr. Van Wie is survived by his two daughters; Georgia and Virginia and four grandchildren. Jill and Jon Cannon and William and Gary Batchelor who lived with him from infancy. He is also survived by his sister Flora Holley of Portland, Ore. He was preceded in death by his wife who died Sept. 22, 1959.
